"Walking is the Best form of Exercise" is something i have Grown up hearing from Everyone. But the fact that remains hard is like many other wise advises ,i ignored this one too. When it came to walking, i have been the laziest Soul who takes car,cab or bus even to Market/any other Closest Place which i can definitely walk up but my lazy calf's always give up before i venture in to it.I am an Occupational Therapist by Profession and Exercises and Rehabilitation is my bread and butter, and my endurance i feel is lower than a few of my Patients.Motivated to Condition my Body to optimal Endurance i decided to Exercise every day for at-least Thirty Minutes. The First week Post this decision was full of Energy.I started with Gradual warm ups and then resistive with weighted cuffs and Five pound dumbbell. My Father was all impressed by my dedication. And he advised me to start with push ups.I tried the First "Namaskar"{Push up}and i was flat on the floor and all the muscles of my body seemed to yell of Pain and i gave up.The Next day again i tried and was successful with one. This Routine continued for a week and then Mismanagement of time and schedule left me again in No Exercise Mode.Since Two Weeks i have been Promising to Self"Kal Se"But we all know Tomorrow never comes. But Today is there,so from today i started walking 5kms apx. which is the distance from my college to Home.Inspired by my friend Sneha who walks up around 8 km to her house every day i decided to try it out.And i could without getting fatigued.

Walking lightens mood. Research reported in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that walking 30 minutes a day boosted the moods in depressed patients faster than antidepressants. Why? Walking releases natural painkilling endorphins to the body – one of the emotional benefits of exercise. A California State University, Long Beach, study showed that the more steps people took during the day, the better their moods were.

Was a good read. Walking is something I love doing - not as part of a routine - but as a mode of transport. As long as it is practical, I always try to walk up distances instead of getting onto some vehicle. Walking is something so relaxing to the mind...especially when it is enjoyed in the true sense. No earphones plugged in - completely into the present scene, enjoying every bit of the sight.
